The Story Behind HTFYG
The idea for this blog came about after Ryan & I decided to move in together back in August 2016. Because I have always loved cooking (and Ryan has always *said* he loves my cooking), I took it upon myself to make weekly meal plans that would fit into our budgets while also filling our bellies. Little did I know exactly HOW MUCH food Ryan could put away on a daily – or hourly – basis. As you can imagine, I was in for quite a shock.
See, Ryan hails from the US of A and his appetite is just as big as you would expect from a 6’5″, 300+ pound man who fondly remembers his grandma’s grits and mac & cheese. As a former college defensive lineman, he’s also used to consuming an exorbitant amount of food without any of the repercussions most people (me included) have to worry about. Because of this, it took me months of doubling and tripling recipes to come up with the perfect amount of food for both of us. I would often reach out to friends who also had giant partners to ask for their advice, and along the way finally figured out how to feed my giant.
This blog will feature our recipes, tips and tricks to feeding large appetites – and will hopefully help you feed your own giant families.
Of course, this isn’t just a recipe blog. Over the years, Ryan and I have been fortunate enough to travel to Europe, the USA, and across BC together – and are planning on many more adventures to come. We quickly realized that our love of food was not confined to the kitchen. In fact, we discovered that 95% of our desire to travel stemmed from wanting to try as many diverse cuisines as we could. Here, we’ll document how we feed our giant wanderlust – where to go, what to do, and most importantly… what to eat!
Thank you for following our journey, and we hope you too can FEED YOUR GIANT.
